Freshmen Persuasive Essay Prompt-

Writing Situation:

A woman in your neighborhood has made a practice of feeding stray animals. As a result, the neighborhood has been overrun by hungry cats that wander through yards, fight with family pets, and overturn trash cans. In response to complaints, the town council is considering an ordinance prohibiting the feeding of any stray animals.
Before taking action, the council wants community input. You decide to write a letter presenting your opinion on this controversial issue.

Directions for Writing:

Write a letter to the town council either supporting or opposing citizens’ rights to feed stray animals. Support your position with reasons, facts, examples, and other evidence. Convince the council to take your position seriously.
